Default Portrait with new soft boxes

Got two new 180W monolights and large soft boxes. Would primarily like comments on lighting. Composition critiques also welcome. (No Comments about the "tude" as he was not very willing , though it did make it fun.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
this is a decent shot. The lighting is good, a tad flat but effective. Loot maybe a bit on the underexposed side but nothing terrible. Curious why you choose iso 1600!? especially when you had room to drop your fstop. So the chair being so close to the subject is allowing the distracting shadow in the lower left, the seams aren't helping either. How did yu have your lights set up? From the catchlights it looks like one on each side. Not a bad arrangement as long as you let one light take the lead and not have them putting out equal light. Equal light means flat lighting and that doesn't give us the nice shadows that infer a 3 dimensional subject...
Keep shooting!

Thank you for the comment.

Well the 1600 was an oversight based on the excitment of some new tools.
If his head was noon one light was at 7 and the other at 3. I had the power levels different but maybe not enough.

Thanks again.

no problem. Bribe him with some goodies and spend an afternoon working with your lights, maybe in a space that allows more separation from the background...
