Today I did a quick photo shoot with my girlfriend for her fashion blog. I got some nice shots (kind of biased) and I was wondering if others thought the same.
So, how is the composition of this shot? Also is the lighting/exposure good? Pretty much all I'm asking is if you like it ![]() I like constructive criticism and learn from it so please leave tips that can make my shots even better. Thank you. There are more shots on my flickr which is linked in my signature. ![]() Exif info: Camera - Canon EOS REBEL T2i Exposure - 0.025 sec (1/40) Aperture - f/2.8 Focal Length - 50 mm ISO Speed - 100 Exposure Bias - 0 EV Flash - Off, Did not fire

I will echo Mark's sentiments on the pose. First thing I thought was up skirt or crotch shot. That's one thing I've heard from many places to avoid. I think the overall exposure is great, although there are more shadows on the left side than I would like. Also adding a little head tilt might make the image more inviting. Either way those are just nitpicks.

Agree about the crotch shot. Try to keep an eye on that, so to speak.
I also agree it's a very passive pose. Maybe thats what you were going for, but simply having her lean forwards, or rotate her shoulders would have been more interesting. I like the balance of where she is in the frame, but I'm not a fan of that piece of stairwell railing. There's not enough to add context or interest, and too much that you cant crop it out of this particular image without ruining the shot. As far as the exposure goes, I didn't bother chiming in on the shot you posted the other day as you were getting plenty of feedback, but I'm seeing the same thing here as I did there; you're bordering on being overexposed on the subject, which gives it a clean crisp feel, but everything else is blown that would have added interest and context, for example the right lower side of the image. It's great to ensure that your subject is exposed well, but when you include significant chunks of the environment and location, it does the image a disservice when they're OE'd. You do a really nice job, and have a good grip on this photographer lark. it might be time for you to start looking at working with off-camera lighting to start taking your fashion photography to levels you're obviously capable of. |
