Default Shy Girl

I took this picture of my friends little girl the other day:

Shy Girl

Yes I know that her back is totally blown out (Aussie sun) but I was wondering if the crop and overall picture works or if her leg is too distracting (she was putting on her shoes). Does the DOF work here?

I like the eye contact a lot.

The crop seems ok, and the leg didn't bother me until you mentioned it. ;-)

The DOF seems ok, too - all the important stuff is in focus. Maybe you can salvage a little detail on the left of the photo with some burning. Fill flash and/or a reflector might have helped, too, but that's not too convenient for a candid snap.

I really like it but wonder what the effect of a much closer crop on her face would be.

I really like the vivid color is her hat, and the fact that you caught her putting on her shoes is great. I personally dont mind her back being blown out, as it makes her face pop
