Question Feet -- My First Attempt at DOF

Depth of Field is a photog concept that most intrigues me right now. What are your thoughts on the use of DOF and light in this shot?

The EXIF is below. I no longer have this camera, so, any improvements should keep in mind that I have a Nikon D90.

Aperture:f/4.1
Focal Length:56mm
ISO:100
Shutter:1/2 sec

though not keen on the subject i like this, compositionally speaking. might want to leave a smidge more breathing room on the right, but good use of negative space.

its a little warm in terms of the WB and the a touch under exposed, I'd definitely run a levels adjustment to brighten it somewhat... the colour grows on me though, and the green/yellow cast works for me for sme odd reason.

the shallow DoF definitely works well.

+ 1 on what Niresangwa said. A little bit underexposed and a maybe that would be the reason why it looks a little out of focus on the feet? The DOF serves well on shots like this if the subject is focused and exposed well, which is what this photo needs.

But I like the photo enough and I love the simplicity. And the message ("put your feet up, it's the end of the day!")

I like the composition and the DOF, even like the yellow cast. The only thing I see to change would be the background. I'm not sure what the white/blue is, lighting maybe? But it draws my eyes away from your subject.

when I learn photography, they usually teach you the first question you ask before taking the picture is WHY?

1) feet?
2) nothing interesting in the backgroud?
3) if DOF is your interest , or something you wanna show, um... no?
