Default Fashion Blog Shot

Here is a shot I took while doing a shoot for a friend.

I would like to get some constructive criticism on anything that I may be able to improve upon whether it be composition, exposure, what time of day to shoot, et cetera.

I know it may be a really vague question, but I'm just looking to improve and learn.

Sequoia - Chictopia

Exif Info:
Camera - Canon EOS REBEL T2i
Exposure - 0.001 sec (1/1000)
Aperture - f/2.5
Focal Length - 50 mm
ISO Speed - 100
Exposure Bias - 0 EV
Flash - Off, Did not fire

I think it's a nice image.

I'd have her looking more into the frame than out, and tried a couple shots with her hands out of her pockets.

Not crazy about the angle you shot from, but that may be your style. I usually shoot from waist level or lower.

Wondering why you choose your settings. 1/1000 at f/2.5?

I have other shots of her in different poses with no hands in the pockets. Also I shot from other angles as well and was trying to switch it up a bit.

Also, I shot this on top of a parking garage and wanted to blur out some ugly background noise and since it's quite sunny here in Florida I had to bump up the exposure.

Check out the other shots on my flickr

the lighting is rather flat and despite the nice bright colors, she has no pop. seems almost underexposed.

I think it's very interesting.

1. excellent choice of colour and it matches the environment (stripes on the floor)

2. exposure looks good to me TBH
did you cut the background out, or are you on top of a building and the white background id blown out from sunlight? hard to tell..
I like it though.

3. The angle of the shot bothers me imensley seeing this is a fashion shoot.
Fashion photographers (as per the Webinar I watched with Chuck Arlund) generallyt shoot from a low angle, perpendicular to the models body,
This gives the image strength and dominance.
Your downward looking angle makes her weak, and therefore the image of the model is passive, rather than dominating you and makin the "image" of the model strong.... which is what you want tif you want people to feel inadequite and desire to wear that which makes themlook as awesome as the model looks.
open a Vogue and see how many shots are from the models hip height and perpendicular th the body

4. Im not sure I like the straight leg in the front. (50/50 on this one)
I would have covered the straight leg with the bent one to make her look more natural.... but it does look edgy.. so it's probably OK

5. being "about the clothing" you need to fix the fold in the front of her top, and the "frump" at the back, hanging out the back of the dress.

nice try though.
i like ythe image overall... a few tweaks would make this a killer.

It actually came out as over exposed on my histogram?

Wow. Great input.

For number 2. I was on the roof of a parking garage so the sun lit up the back a bunch. I have a backdrop and green screen but my computer is slow and I'm currently in the process of getting a Macbook Pro.

For 3. Yeah I usely do this when I do shoots, but I wanted to switch things up. Great advice

Number 5. Like I said...my computer is pretty much poop I was actually in the middle of processing a couple shots when my computer showed a message saying "Not enough memory to run this program" ending in my cursing out my computer and being sour saying, "F*** processing."

I all, thank you so much. This was exactly what I was looking for and I will take your advice into heart and work on it in my next shoots.

I suspect it would as there is a lot of white in the background and floor.
