Default Maternity pics

so this was my first try in manual mode, and im totally new at this so I'm not sure on the exposure, I took this one and a few other for a friend, well most of them came out looking foggy like this??? not sure why and then some came out more clear but not as sharp.
I dont know how to tell what the eifx is and I am not sure how to check it yet. But I dont knwo why they dont come out sharp looking.
here is one that was extra blurry, I took the apature down as far as possible and kept 160 to 200 iso and I adjusted shutter speed according to light meter.
ericka maternity 246
any thoughts and cc are appreciated! thanks

here's your exif... you can find it by clicking on the camera name on the top right of your flickr page

Camera Fujifilm FinePix S3Pro
Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture f/5.3
Focal Length 42 mm
ISO Speed 160

looks like a combination of flare and post processing to lighten up the lady so she's not silhoutte... and did you mean by taking your aperture down as far as possible as in shooting in wide open? that'll always gives you softer image...

not sure what lens you are shooting with... based on the info i'm guessing 18-55? try shooting away from the windows instead of into it and you'll probably will find it clear (less foggy)...

as for not as sharp, try stopping down the lens some... around maybe f8? it should give you sharper image... but your background wont be blurred as much... also check for misfocus any time your pics comes looking not as sharp..

hope that helps
