I took this sp today. I was just testing out the new Westcott Apollo 28". I'm just wondering if the comp is decent, the B&W works and any other offerings you may have. Thank you for your time...

I like everything except the fact that it is just too dark. Bumped up 1-1.5 stops and I think you would have nailed it. The subject just blends a little too much into the background and I think a little brighter subject would have created a bit more seperation and interest.

On the shot. It is under exposed, it's as simple as that. I like the darkened effect, but it could be a tad lighter. Other than that it's not a bad shot. You have composition, emotion, now all you need is lighting.

You can pull off low-key like this, but you need a rimlight and catchlights in the eyes ... and it's usually more effective in color.

The rule of thirds, in and of itself, doesn't make composition good or bad. Sometimes dead center is exactly the right place for the subject. Sometimes I wonder if people are placing subjects off center for a particular reason, or because the rule of thirds told them to.
