what a sweet picture! i'm no expert at this, but i know people look for more contrast in a b and w conversion- there should be some white whites and some black blacks. yours is mostly shades of gray. why did you convert? am curious what the color version looks like.

Looks very good to me - nothing to say b/w must always be done low key kristen, b/w can also be done high key to convey a happy/innocent look IMO. I like it

Agreed with Kristen. The conversion is definitely flat and a bit muddy (not high key - high key is when the majority of the image is is taken in tones that are greater than 18% grey).
The focus appears to be a bit off, too - hard to tell from a small image, but it looks like it fell on her elbow/skirt. Cute pic, though! I'd love to see the color version also. |

Thanks for the replys. Every little bit helps. so here is a copy of the colour version. i do prefer it more. i am just having trouble with the whole balck and white thing. i am doing my sisters pregnancy photos next week and want to get some really good shots. the set out will a bit different obviously with a black background and her wearing white. then i want to do her baby photos to.

The color version definitely lends itself to a lovely BW conversion. What software are you using? Before we can give any tips to a great conversion we need to know what your capabilities are.
