Default First Engagement Shoot

I don't have a specific question, I'm just looking for an overall critique of the job. This is my first official paid shoot, It was someone I know and they know not to have high expectations (the price reflected that). I just wanna know if I shoulda done anything different, what I can do to improve for the next time, is the PP good, etc. Since I can only post one image here's a link to the full set on Flickr:Engagement Shoot - a set on Flickr

Please share the EXIF info!

Of the set this one is my fav: IMG_3537 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

On the image posted in this thread:
I'm no pro, but first thing I notice is the lens flare on her face. The tree in the bottom left is not as big of an issue, but seems out of place since it's the only tree in the image. Composition is good. Exposure is good but could have used a little more fill flash. Their smiles are great, but a little difficult to see.

You definitly have a good eye and I'm sure that the couple will/are pleased with the results. Thanks for sharing.

They seem a little gimmicky althought I do like the one with the mirror a lot. Though I suppose i am more conventional. I like the natural lighting. don't use on camera flash.

I think you did ok...
It's very hard to do these types of shoots and be "fresh/creative" without being gimmicky... Probably why I don't do this kind of stuff.
The lens flares mostly have the "spot" which I hate (the one here is nice though)....The ones with her "pinned" against the wall; seem a little "off" to me..... Other than that I think you did well enough, and that's all just opinion/taste.

I didn't post EXIF since this shot was just a sample to lure people into checkin out the whole set. I actually didn't use any fill flash on these because I wanted the lens flare with a partial silhouette. Your favorite one is the one I'm the least sure about. Haha. I think I'm just not digging my edit on that one.

I don't really like conventional myself. I don't know what my style is just yet but I do know that will definitely not be conventional or traditional. I was tryin to avoid convention on these although I guess I went too far if it comes across as gimmicky. I'll hafta reign that in next time and try to find a balance. I didn't use any on camera flash in any of these. The outdoor shots are natual light and the indoor shots are a speedlight off camera with a shoot through umbrella. I only use flash on camera if I have to.

I guess it's a fine line between creative and gimmicky. I just gotta learn to stay on the right side of that line. Opinions are what I asked for so thank you for yours.
