Default Saturday Afternoon Sun Part 2 (Two girls)

Canon Rebel XS
F-Stop: 3.5
Exposure: 1/200 sec
ISO 100
Exposure was stepped down -0.7

February 26, 2011-20

This one is my husband's cousin and my sister. It's my favorite from the whole afternoon. I love their posture and expressions as well as the composition. But I hate the green sun flare on my sister's (the girl on the right) arm/chest. All I have to work with is gimp and lightroom, how do I go about getting it off? I tried using the clone tool but it wasn't working well, that thing drives me nuts. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the weird color and that its only in one spot. But since its not like a "pretty" flare I would like to remove it.

Like always, general feedback is appreciated as well!

something to try for removing the flare, just an idea i had, no idea if it will work.

set a mask for the area of the flare, the desaturate the area, create a new layer with the same mask, set the blending mode to colour, then paint in colours picked from the surrounding area, then set transparency so it looks natural.

I hope you dont mind, I gave it a test to see if it would work, result attached, not bad for a few minutes work

just pulled the image from the attachment in case the lightbox doesnt work

Can I do that in GIMP? I don't have photoshop, and I rarely use gimp really lol
