Default First time, please critique

Hi, this is the first time I have posted a photo for critique here. I am an amateur photographer and really enjoy taking pictures and would like to get a little more serious about it. What do you guys think about these 2 pictures of my boy? I have done a little PP in photoshop as well.

f/2.8 and 1/100 speed

I think they both could use a little levels adjustment to brighten them up. I also feel the first one would work a little better it you cropped out some above his head. (get his head into the ROT's area) You may also want to be a little more careful when you shoot to try not cut off the feet. I like the second composition better (as seen, before any crop adjustments) than the first one, but a minor crop to take off that moulding off the top of the image would help IMO. Real cute little guy...I'm sure you hear that a lot.

I only see one. Cute little guy, interesting location, but I miss his feet.

I guess you have naturally aquired the rule of third, which is good
I guess you are at a very low height as compared to your son. This angle is great, but it cuts out the feet and gives the boy nothing to rest on.
Cheers

Hi, I'm very new so can only tell you what I think, but not really how to fix it up (sorry bout that, but I'll get there one day...)

I like the shot. Like that the background is out of focus enough to make your son stand out as the subject, but still clear enough that you can see the detail of where he is.
But I agree with the need for feet. There seems to be enough of the building seen above his head that you could have aimed down that fraction and captured them. I do also think that if there was much more grass in the shot the colours should be tweaked a tad.

However it is still a shot I would be happy to show off. What a cutie!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really wish I could have gotten his feet in the shot, but the shot was taken really quickly since he loves to run around. I'm actually amazed I even got this one of him standing still!

Hard to photograph at that age. Took me months to get a photo of my kids' fronts
