Default First time with softbox

I just purchased a Lastolite Ezybox ( 18 x 18) and was itching to try it. Friday evening my wife and I stayed home and had a fantastic meal together along with some fine wine during and after. Perfect time (maybe not) to try the new softbox. This was taken in the front room at night with a table lamp to the right of Cindy and the softbox to the left of camera. I changed to black and white to get the type of feel I was going for. Alway liked off camera flash but now this has opened up a new format for me. Hope you enjoy and please critique as much as needed. Keep in mind the wine consumption. LOL

Nikon D700 - 70-200 f2.8 - ezybox to the camera left directly even with my wife at a distance of 2 feet. Lamp on table to camera right next to my wife.

You don't have to erase the post, just delete some of the images and ask a specific question and you're good to go!

While personally I do not like this style image, I understand what you were after and it is a form of art. Biggest thing I see is this should be super sharp from front to rear. The hair at the front is very sharp (almost appears high pass filter), and very contrasty. The hair at the rear of the image is soft. I really feel in this image, that you should have maintained sharp & contrasty all the way through. This would mean moving from your f4 to a larger aperture.

Other thing I see is the blown highlight in the hair on the left side. Too much light was hitting there, and the light needs to be dialed down or moved back.

Otherwise, very artsy & cool.

Thanks Scooter that was just what I was looking for. Appreciate the input and especially about being sharp all the way. That light on the left is really blown out. I hadn't noticed that.
