Default Help editing???...any comments??

IMG_1118

Info:
Canon 40d
Shutter 1/3999
Aperture f/2.5
ISO 320
Focal length 50mm

I haven't edited this picture and wondered as to any advice on how to, I'm not really used to editing and am hoping to get some software such as Lightroom but on a trial run at the moment!
I would also appreciate any comments on improvements that could be made composition/lighting etc.... I was outside on a walk when the sun was beginning to go down.
Thank you.

Hi Kage, you are much more likely to get responses if your image is part of the post, not just a thumbnail connection. It's easy to copy the HTML code in a site like Flickr and then paste it into your post. I know when I have 10 or 11 pages of new posts to look through, I want to see the image right away when I open the post, without having to click on a link or thumbnail.

I really like this photo! I love that you can't see his eyes; it makes it really intriguing to me. Great background too, it's interesting, but not distracting. I love the DoF and that you focused on his hair but his face is slightly out of focus - very cool! And of course the lighting is great at that time of day. Nice shot!

As far as editing goes, I'm probably not the best person to give you advice, but I think it looks pretty good already. I usually just give my shots a little levels boost. I'm sure other people can give you more advice on PP. I might try a B&W if it were mine though; not sure how it would be.

Sorry, I don't think that was very helpful. I really like it though!

I like this photo too!

I'm no expert (total beginner) but I would also put this into B&W. For me, B&W would avoid the viewers eyes being pulled towards the silver bits of his headphones or the red part of his hood.

Here it is in black and white..... what you think? I'm not sure if I prefer it in colour but I can see what you mean about the headphones being quite strong and distracting.... does black and white take that away a bit??
