Default First day with my new lens!

I just got the Canon 85mm f1.8 and I love it! Here is one of my first shots with it. (It's my sister.)
Photobucket
Does the low contrast B&W work here? With my normal B&W conversion (I like high contrast ) I was loosing her right eye, so I went the other way.
I was also wondering about the lighting. I was bouncing my flash here, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. How did I do?
Any other comments and critique are more than welcome!

so you took the plunge, hey, Lisa? and not for the zoom?

i think its a sweet picture- you can see that you got into a bit of dof issue which is why only the one eye is in focus. it looks well lit, but, personal preference for me- would like more contrast. is she carly?

Thanks Kristen!

Yeah, I went with the 85. I just love the sharpness and the fastness of a prime! And it was actually less expensive than the 18-200. It was only a little over $400. Thanks so much for your review though.

I was wondering if it was just too blah. I had never really tried any PP like this, and I still don't know if I like of not. Maybe it's just boring.

This is Mary. The Carly in my user name is Carly Patterson. She is a gymnast who won the all-around gold medal at the 2004 Olympics. (I'm a huge gymnastics fan) Thanks for asking though.

Thanks photocist. She was probably more intrigued than surprised; she was watching a TV show at the time. She usually doesn't like to pose for me, but if she can watch something at the same time she doesn't mind so much.
Here is the color version.
