This is at the St. Louis Science Center. I really had a hard time getting anything decent but thought maybe this one is ok? Any suggestions on how to get a better pic in this situation next time would be great!

I like the composition.... my eyes are definitely drawn round the picture but end up always at the subjects which is nice.
The only thing being that the background is pretty distracting... maybe could play with a shallower depth of field to try and blur out more and make the foreground stronger? |

Hi,
Given that you shot in Auto and presuming 'next time around' you continue to do so, the only other thing you could change is your perspective or your zoom. Possibly zoom in closer to the subject, or physically move in closer (or to the side?) to remove the distracting background. Otherwise, get out of Auto! Seeing as the flash did fire, if you were in Manual or Shutter Priority you could have overridden that and avoided the flat lighting look. Or reduced the flash output, which a D90 should be capable of. Shoot on ![]() Cheers, M |
