Hello everyone! i'm a rookie photographer. I'm what you'd call a "Con. Photographer", in other words, i shoot at anime conventions. Wile going through my pictures from my most recent event (Ohayocon 2011) i ran into the picture posted below of the beautiful woman who caught my eye. It was one of my best shots. I edited it in Lightroom 3.3 (lighting, contrast and noise adjustments) and this is the end result. So with that said, what does DPS think? It was taken with my 10MP Sony Alpha a100 and for the lens 3.5-5.6/18-70mm. I would give the metadata info but currently not at my home desktop also, i do realize that it could use a bit more contrast but THAT version is not on my netbook(will post it when i get the chance).

I love going to cons! I can't figure out who she is - if she was going for a Chobits girl (http://www.animewallpapers.com/wallp...ts/full_52.php), the ears aren't right.
Anyhow, the eyes are a bit too dark for my taste. I know it's almost impossible to use off camera flash at these things (I've tried) but I think you need to position her a bit different using more of the light from the windows on the right to light up her face. I would also have liked to see more of her. I don't like that her left arm is cut off. I'm also pretty sure that the costume would have had a nice skirt or something that you are missing out on. |

Yeah that was a mistake i made and i actually have like 6 more of her that show all of that she was wearing. Ill have to post the others that were my favorites. I'm still pretty new to Lightroom so ill need a bit of time to learn everything.

Very "interesting" shot. Sounds like a lot of fun people.
![]() But on to critique. The eyes are not in focus, focus seems to have fallen on the frills on her right arm (left side of the frame). Her whole face is quite soft in fact. Blouse is overexposed and face is underexposed. Perhaps you could have asked her to step into an area with more even lighting. Background is a little distracting. Overall composition isn't that great. The angle is slightly to low to be flattering, and slightly to high to be intriguing. There is a yellow cast on her arm, and quite a bit of noise, what was your ISO? Blob of bright light on the left of frame is distracting. Phew, am I a pixel peeper?? *runs screaming to water to wash off any influence of BigFuzzy*
