Hey, so this was taken a few days after i got my first camera. I'm wondering if the overexposure works in the photo. What about the composition? I also added sepia tone in PS. Haven't done any portraits, or photography for that matter, so any input/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Saw this has had few comments so I thought to give mine for what it's worth (likely not much!)

I don't have any issue with the over exposure.. in fact it helps the subject stand out a bit from the background which is too cluttered and busy in my opinion.

Honestly, it's the composition that needs the most work. It's smack dab in the middle. Yes you rotated the frame a bit, but to me, it's still same ol' same ol' centered composition which, frankly, everyone does so your image won't stand out.

I understand you're new and all, and that you're still figuring things out and the one bit of advice I always give newcomers is this:
If you want to create an image that's actually different and interesting, forget about the first 3-10 ways you think about shooting something you find interesting, because, chances are every Tom, Dick and Harry with a camera has already done it. And if you see something, ask yourself, how can I make it different, how can I make it mine.. otherwise, yours will be one of 50billion snapshots taken everyday.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. It's great to get feed back on some specific things that can be done to improve my photography skills and also good to know that some of what i am doin is working out!
