Default Trying to grab a toddler portrait...

DSC_0317_2011-01-29_17-18

snowy day, and i got this idea that it would be good to line my littlest up for a 21 month portrait of sorts. got my new speedlite and was bouncing off the ceiling behind me. exif data:
nikon d5000
focal length 52 mm
shutter speed 1/60 (but faster b/c of the lite, right?)
aperture 4.8
iso 200

my questions: color look ok or oversaturated? i tweaked it a tiny bit.
focus look okay? (he kept running at me)
what do you think of this kind of catchlights?
composition?
any other ideas if you have them. thanks!

Oh my goodness, he is a cutie!
Yeah...the color/skin tone seems a bit red/orange to me. Maybe it is his sweater and/or the background that are accentuating the tone? I'm not really a pro in that area.
I like the composition. It screams toddler.I know it's hard to get them to be still.

Looks good Kristen! It doesn't look oversaturated to me, but it looks a little on the yellow side. Though, never having seen him, it's hard to tell. Focus and composition seem solid, and the catchlights are great. I took a look at your flickr page, and I love the other one from this shoot! His smile in that one is so great! One other nitpicky thing I noticed about this picture, is there seems to be a line above his head. I don't know if it's his hair or something on the background, but I would clone it out if I were you. I know it's small, but with such a nice clean background, it sort of stuck out to me, and took my eyes away from his cute little face. Nice job!
