I think what you're missing, and this is purely a personal point of view, is drama.

Yes, the colours are superb, but it doesn't say "flood" to me. It's just a man trudging through a shallow puddle.

I wonder what this photo would have looked like if you had lowered your viewpoint until you were just above the water, I mean an inch or 2, and included a lot more sky with the vanishing point at the bottom third rather than half way up. You'd still have got those superb colours, but you'd get a feeling that the water was coming up to meet you, and the skies would have looked much more foreboding. It would immerse you in the photo, where as here, as the observer I get a feeling of distance and safety.

Technically I think you've got a great photo, but I think you should look carefully for different points of view to help get accross the drama of the day.

Oh yes.. And dig out your cloning tool to get rid of those ugly power lines, and the top of the power pylon that's growing from his head, and the lamp growing from his arm.

I totally agree with Swiss Jon. ( I still wonder why its called swiss though )

Yea the pic is really neat and good capture, but it doesnt necessarily say flood to me either. As jon said, "It's just a man trudging through a shallow puddle".

But yea, your compostion skills seems good to me. Nice placement of the subject (Could be better). A good angle (i believe you lowered yourself to take the picture). And yes those wires are a bit distracting, but that doesnt really bother me much.

Another reason this doesnt look so dramatic is because the water vanishes a bit further into the picture and that i think is a huge flaw in this "flood" like picture..

Exactly what I thought when I saw this as well as 'great light'

Had you not told me about it being in the flooding, i wouldn't be like Jon and hope for more drama.

Either way, nice shot.

thanks for the comments, yes, i agree now you've mentioned it, i think i should've got down a bit lower and maybe closer, and i only just noticed the light pole and the power lines growing out of his arm and head.

Having said that, I fully agree with both critics, nice shot

BTW in some part of Australia you did sufered dramatic floods because of the rain as we used to have in the rainy season in the several locations on Mexico
