Question My granddaughter

Is the ISO too high? This was taken very late in the afternoon. Is the head tilt too distracting? Could this be improved by processing? Very new at this and I desperately want to improve and advice is welcome.

Being new I err on the side of caution with ss. Your scrummy little one wouldn't have kept still for you, so I would have been comfortable at 320. In other words iso 800 is right for now. With more experience perhaps you could drop it down slightly, but that may have resulted in more motion blur.

Being uber critical - (you can choose to ignore this) the focus has fallen in her hair line rather than her eyes. That will come with practice - always focus using the eyes (sorry if that is a suck eggs comment.)

Is this a sooc? I am finding the angle hard to look at, I keep tilting my head to try to see the portrait view. I think somewhere in between would give you a nice image.

Yes she is very fast and hard to capture sitting still. Still learning how to get the focus where I want in a hurry and yes it is sooc. Thanks so much for your comments

You have to tell us your EXIF data for us to answer your question about whether it's too high!

You could come down a bit on the ISO, but with kids you still wan to keep a higher shutter speed. Those eyes are beautiful, but NicolaB is right in that they are slightly out of focus. The angle of the head doesn't bother me. The background, although has a good bokeh, is still slightly distracting, but since this appear to be candid there is not much you can do about that.
