What did I do right? What did I do wrong? How can I improve my portraiture?

I welcome all comments.

No pro here but here are some thoughts. First impressions I like it. She has a beautiful smile and it is a welcoming picture. I think if you had gotten more of her sitting on swing or gone other route and cropped tighter on bottom it would be less awkward. And the high contrast between shadow and light on her face can be eliminated by shooting more in the shade or diff time of day or use of reflectors. Very nice shot overall. Thanx for sharing

I agree with sheila3, but I would have liked to see the rest of her left arm.

The picture has a great mood and her smile is really quite radiant.

That said, my two cents:

+1 on the left wrist/arm...

The image looks a bit too overexposed 1/30 s is perhaps too slow...it would definitely be much better off with some nice rich colour...especially with that lovely scarf as a highlight.

Also her posture looks a bit unnatural, am curious to know whether she was actually swinging or just leaning against the swing, it looks more like the latter .

Cheers.
