Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Lens: Sigma 17-70 meta: 1/125 @ f.8 ISO400 I took this picture of my cousin, and changed it to BW in lightroom. I'd love to hear any suggestions and criticisms, especially about composition. How can i crop this to improve the image? I think the eyes would be better away from the centre and the background on the right is a bit distracting. Any thoughts are welcome |

I would have like to see the original but here are my suggestions. I agree with the slight distraction of the background on the right. Because this is a portrait I would crop tighter on the face. The bright area to the the upper left is kind of distracting for me as well as it blends in with the subjects blond hair. I would bring down the lights and hioghlights a bit and bump up the darks and shadows. You also may want to try using the ND Filter. In Lightromm it is on the right hand side on the same bar as the crop overlay. Hope this helps.
