My daughter had her 1st ballet lesson yesterday and I couldn't resist poking my head (and camera) into the studio. As a beginner I'm not sure what works and what doesn't work here. Its my daughter so its hard for me to be impartial.

Thank you. That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. Anyone else?

I agree... ESPECIALLY because it's right above her head.

Would have been nice to get lower but also to shoot a wider image.
It always feels like an intimate image when up close but the model doesn't make the image feel intimate. A nice wide shot would make it feel more private. I've always felt training for anything was a private matter. Of course it was her first ballet lesson so you would have wanted an intimate photograph. I think a nice close potrait of her in uniform would have suffice.

i like it a lot and i think its a nice idea to shoot into the mirror like this. i have been told that when you take a mirror shot, you focus on the eyes in the mirror- hard for me to tell here. agree with the leg and the backpack, but i'm also wondering what the walls in the studio were like. if they were plain and non-distracting, i might have angled myself to have those in the background instead of the floor, b/c i don't like the lines in the floor. they distract me.
i imagine you'll have plenty more opportunities to take ballet shots, though
