Two New Years Eve Shots

Really just looking for a general critique.

See, I cropped them similarly at one point, but decided against it.


I decided I liked the foreground party-goers, particularly the man on the left side, simply because it does a better job of crowding the photo, giving it depth, and placing the viewer in a more accurate "party" setting.


Justifiable?

Maybe, but it is a distraction where the girl should be the focal point of the photo. The girl still has that 3D pop with the cropped version too.

When you crop like you have, her eyes are directly in the center of the photo, making it break the rule of thirds and just look... odd.
