Default Close-up portrait.....wide open perture

Does the shallow depth of field in this close up picture (causing the back eye to blur) take away from this image? The focus was on the front eye......Thanks for the critique, and like always, any other comments or suggestions are welcome!! I'm still learning portrait techniques without ever taken a photography class.......

Sorry, but yes, I feel that the further eye being out of focus detracts heavily from a photo that should be all about the eyes due to the tight crop and focus on the face. There is no reason for the eye to be blurred and every reason to have both eyes in focus to show the delight of this young lady.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest here, the only reason I did this is because I was practicing my focus shooting wide open (it has been a problem for me)....and I thought the way this turned out was "interesting."

Thanks for the feedback......

You can shoot wide open, but you a.) need to be further away from your subject to have her in focus and/or b.) need to have her facing you so her eyes are on the same plane.

I love shooting wide open (I've been called a bokeh whore, lol) and studying the DOF Calculator was an immense help to me.

I agree. Never heard of a DOF Calculator. Totally going to check that out!
