Default Brown-Eyed Girl

Hello! I've never posted a picture here for you guys to critique, I'm still kinda new at this, so bare with me please. I'm a fairly new photographer and I've been taking photo classes in high school, and I took this with the class Nikon a while ago, so I'm not sure on some of the information(focal length, f-stop, etc.) though I think these are right. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.
Anyways, this is a portrait I took for one of my friends. I'd like if you could tell me what you think of the lighting, too dark or too light? And could I have emphasized the catch light in her eyes? Other feedback is appreciated too. Thanks.

Camera: Nikon D300
Shutter Speed: 1/125
F-Stop: f/11 or f/16 (I think)
Exposure Program: Shutter Priority
ISO: 100
Focal Length: n/a

Hi Dakota m fairly new to portrait as well. It think with your image, you did a good job in the sharpness especially the eye. Do you always use high aperture in your single subject or only this one. I think with little tweak of colours and contrast and it will be more better. As far as exposure is concern, in my monitor it appears to be tad exposed. Try fiddling with your white balance as well to make it warmer. Goodluck and keep on shooting. Others might have better feedback. Did you use flash here? and if you want more feedback, try ask specific questions like exposure, cropping, sharpness, colours, white balance, etc.

Thanks, I'll keep this stuff in mind.
I used a high aperture for this because I wanted to get as much detail as possible without blowing the brightness out. I used a studio light flash and a reflector card for the lighting, though I think a white background could have made her hair a little brighter. Not sure..

It's a nice pose and I like the tight cropping, maybe even a bit tighter on the upper side. I think it would be better in portrait orientation though.

Which lights have you used? I'd love the shadows and highlights a bit softer.

Also, out of curiosity, why shutter priority? Not that model will significantly move, so you'd have more control over the image if you kept your aperture fixed?
