Hi,

This is one of my favourite shots, however the over exposed parts on top of her head and her left side really do bother me. Can this be rescued in PS in any way? I would greatly appreciate any tips anyone may have to share.

TIA

No idea if your camera allow shooting in raw... but based on your jpeg that you post, the hair is clipped and there's no way to save that from a jpeg... if you do shoot in raw try playing with the recovery channel in adobe raw... usually raw will give you more dr and you can save some overexposure like this... nice pic..

I love this shot! I actually don't mind the blown spots at all. Her face is properly exposed and that is the most important part. I like the background and I like her smile. (She is very cute!) The only thing that feels odd to me is her leg position. She seems to be crouching down with her feet on different levels. It just doesn't seem to match up with her upper body, leaning on the railing very relaxed. Maybe a crop would help? I really like it a lot though. It's a sweet photo! Nice job!

there is very little detail left in the hair. select the blown out parts with the lasso tool and put it in another layer, change the blending mode to multiply and press ctrl. J about twelve times. this will bring out the details but will darken the excess background and will have some off color. merge all the selected layers and desaturate. this will become bw and use color balance, add red and a bit of yellow to blend with the overall color. make a layer mask and brush out the dark images to blend with the original photo.

I think it's absolutely beautiful just the way it is. The blown out parts don't bother me at all ... in fact I think they add to the picture
