Default baby boy

This is my first time posting here. I hope it works. Here is a picture I took today, my first time with custom white balance. I would like to know if the lighting, focus, and overall coloring is good. This photo is straight out of camera and has not been edited at all. Thank you!

Hi EnFox! I love pictures of babies! Well, color balance is a little bit hard for batch edition, because skin tones changes during session if the baby cries, etc. Lightning, as seen through his eyes, is a direct light. I prefer more diffuse light...

Nice baby!!!

Thank you. I am wondering why there is a reflection in his eyes since I did not use flash

There's many things that will create a reflection in the eyes...windows, door, televisions, overhead lights, etc. That's not necessarily bad thing. The color and focus look good. I think it does need a little punch in the curves for a little pop.

I was going to edit but my photoshop was down. Would someone mind showing me what they would do to make the photo more exciting?

Here's what I would do.
Photobucket

All I did was a levels adjustment and a slight color correction (I was going off his clothes which I assume were white). I hope this helps. I am fairly new to PP, and I'm sure someone else could do better, but I do find that some levels usually makes the picture pop a bit more. Oh, and I also remove the white thing on his face; a bit of food perhaps?

Great picture by the way. The focus looks good on his eyes, nice catchlights, and I like the lighting. Very cute. Nice job.
