Some post processing in Lightroom.

Does this look underexposed? I love his expression, but want opinions on how this could be better.

Thanks!

a couple of things:
1. the exposure is fine but the focus is off. hard to catch it when photographing into the sun.
2. I can't see why he is squinting, since the sun his behind him

I love the lightning, the background and the hat.

Exposure is fine, but shooting into the sun caused lens flare in this situation. That made it a little softer and caused that colored band across the photo at the top of his jacket.

Thank you for the comments!

Yes, I agree on the soft focus. I think his nose is more in focus than his eyes?

It's not really a squint, more of his serious face. Those brows do that a lot. And I think he's probably tired of his mom always taking his picture.

Try to sharpen his eyes some and play with your contrast a bit then it should look a little less blury. Pretty good shot otherwise.

i agree with the comments mentioned..

does seem a little soft and a bit dull in color. adding contrast may help here.

[pre-shot composition] im also thinking that turning him would have had a greater effect with natural contrast and add some nice shadowing to his face.
I love his expression! so adding some shadows would have contributed nicely to his expression
