Default Ranjan's portraits

Camera Nikon D3000
Lens Sigma 70-300 DG Macro
70mm, ISO 400, 1/40s, F/4.5
Cloudy

I have been told that this pic missed out on some technical aspects. I would like to know which and how to work on those?

So, what's your question?

Check out the forum rules

Since you posted in a critique forum, I'm going to assume your looking for an overall critique. The focus is off, image is a little noisy, I'd like to see the subject more to the left side of the frame (rule of 1/3), I'm not a fan of the vignetting.

I love that you captured him with his toy car, great idea. Keep shooting!

you've got some great lightning in this photo.
I would lose the vignetting if I were you as it darkens his left hand.

i love the lighting, the expression and the fact that he has the car in his hand..it makes for a nice story together.

I'm inclined to disagree in this case as the background though blurry gives impression of people larger than him being there, it gives a sense of scale which makes it more interesting..

There are however, some technical snags as noted above. Would you please post your exposure information viz. camera, lense used plus shutterspeed, aperture, ISO value etc. It will help us help you better as this image is more wanting in technique than in feeling, with the latter coming across very nicely

Cheers
