Default first attempt at portrait photography..

just a few shots, after editing.. Any improvement ideas GREATLY appreciated!

Camera: Nikon D3000
Aperture: f/8
Shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 140
Focal length: 50mm

Here is the link for you read thru the guidelines so you'll know, without a doubt, what should be included and what shouldn't

The colors are off...too green. It looks like it was "cross processed" and doesn't quite work.
Were you trying to enhance the eyes?

I was thinking the off color and lack of contrast are due to trying to pull back the over-exposure from the lens flare ...

yes, it was cross processed. but not to enhance the eyes.. for some reason my colors were coming out dull..

i like the cross processing for the eyes but I would've had two layers of cross processing and turned down the opacity for the other layer for everything else.

So I'd have layer #1 for the eyes and erase/mask out everything else. Layer #2 I'd erase or mask out the eyes and turn the opacity down so it doesn't look as cross processed.
