Default Cry Baby

Is my makeshift background too distracting? I would have liked it to be completely white, but this was as good as I could get. These were supposed to be Christmas card pictures, but as you can see my little one didn't want to cooperate at all (I even tried to bribe her with a sucker). But I got some pretty funny emo pics out of the ordeal Never a dull moment!

i think its nicely blurred and doesn't bother me- in fact, it s a little mysterious iwth the shadows.

last year, to keep my wild ones in place, i put them on the bed, so they were limited in how far they could go, and i gave them candy canes to eat. quite a mess, but at least seasonal. out of about 250 shots, there was a good one

Our nice xmas card shoot this year ended in tears too - with Mummy acting like a petulant teenager and huffing off out of the room! I bribed mine with chocolate.

Firstly - what a cutie - even if she is cross.

I am very new at this, so take what you will but.....do you have the energy to go again? If so it looks like you have nice light in the room but she needs to be facing more to the window so more light falls on her pretty face.

As for the background, you could clone them out to make it all white?

What were your settings?

Beautiful baby and background is great, however you could use Photoshop elements to select the background and use the paint bucket tool to paint it white. My choice is to leave it as is and use it for the card also. It shows the child doing her own thing.

it would have been better if there were no folds and the left side of her face lighter even though she is not smiling. just reshoot when she is ready or pp this one by removing the folds and lightening the dark side of her face.

My PP work does not turn out that good How did you lighten the other side of her face while still keeping the right side intact?

Yes, I definitely agree and intended for her and her sister to be facing the window (my only light source). I am going to re-attempt with candy canes (someone else on here gave me that idea), plus they are festive, so they'll work in the picture Maybe I'll actually get both of my kids in the same picture. kids are tough!!

My thought too....I think it would have been better with her facing the light............

if you're familiar with layers and layer mask, this is quite easy. select all the dark parts either with lasso tool and press Q to put the selected area in another layer. adjust this new layer by using levels until it lightens up to your liking. add a layer mask to this layer and with a very soft brush and about 15% opacity carefully brush the edges to remove the unwanted areas until it blends with the original bg layer. toggle the black or white color to erase or to undo. you can fine tune by using doge and burn and merge with the original.
