Default My First Wedding Shoot

Shot a wedding for a young couple at my church early in October, and it was a great learning experience. I would love some critiques of these shots, and the others posted at my Flickr site.

Do you usually do all your B&W's the same way? I used different B&W formulas throughout, choosing whichever looked best.

As to the composition, does it work?

Psst, before the mods do it for you, you should read the critique forum rules and remove two of the images to fall in line with the rules.

It's very Rat Pack-esque which I like but I think I'd bring up the brightness a little. The guys toward the back get a little lost in darkness unless that's what you're going for.

No worries!

As for the photo, I like it in general. Like the above noted, a bit more light (especially on the back left) would have helped as they get a bit lost.

I like the idea, fun and original.

Personally I don't like the slight color cast on the image (at least that's how I see it on this computer which is a laptop, though normally it's accurate). The greys feel a bit grey and brownish to me so i think I would have preferred a more traditional b&w with the skin being closer to white than what they're at now.

Another flash camera left at the subjects would also have added a bit more detail in their suits especially if it was shot from the side of the subject closer to the back left wall.

Otherwise, it's quite a good photo that's fun and original. A bit more light control would make it pop, but I think the client would be happy in the end,.

I understand what you mean. Another light on the left hand side there would have done wonders for this picture.

As for the B&W, it's one of the Padtoner Quadtones from CS3. I really like the moodiness of it, but yeah, I agree, it's a touch too dark.

Thanks for the critique.
