Default one cool 4yr old dude

Hi all,
I took this photo today and I just love it.
I know it's a bit soft and the elbow is a bit chopped off but my question is.. does it work for you? would you be happy with this photo as a costumer?
thanks for the help

It does work for me. I really like it. It really shows his mood, which is great. I love the catchlights!
The only thing that really bugs me (apart from the chopped elbow which you already mentioned) is the unevenness of the background (I think they call it banding?). Maybe it's just the monitor though.
Great job!

Lisa

thanks for the feedback Lisa.
I went and checked again for this banding issue you've pointed out and it's there in the RAW version. weird.
tried blurring it or any other treatment with no luck of softening it out, any ideas? is it really that bad?

Hey Mr. Jones. I like it! As a mom I can tell you yes I would be happy with this photo. Other than the elbow which has been mentioned it is great. You captured his attitude! And I agree love the catchlights. I'm not really seeing the banding issue on my screen. Nice work.

The chopped elbow is unfortunate, but the rest of this portrait makes up for it! Love his expression and the lighting is gorgeous...I also like your BW conversion. Nice work!

I'm on a better monitor now, and it looks much better! We have two computers and the monitor on the other one stinks, but someone was using this one last night so I was on the bad one. It's not noticeable now. Sorry about that.

I am just a beginner and probably shouldn't post an opinion but, I think I would crop it in tighter even. Maybe like this?

I like the tighter crop, the bottom of his shirt was a little wrinkled, but with the tighter crop it's not an issue. Amazing shot of his eyes though, he's a sweetheart, even with the tough expression!

Such a great shot. He is one tough cookie here, wouldn't want to find him in a dark alley - ha ha. I like the crop but maybe not so close to his head on the right, I think just cropping the bottom of the shirt out, but that's just me. You've got a great photo; I could see it as a stock photo even.

I love his expression! So tough! I agree with others and think cropping the bottom a bit takes away the distracting wrinkles in his shirt. But overall, I love the shot!
