Shaun, she's a beautiful baby. here's my opinion, and really its just that, and opinion. i'm not a fan of selective coloring in general- but esp in a case like this- where- do you really want the viewer's eye drawn toward the flower? or to your baby's face? for me, it would be the latter, so i personally wouldn't selective color.
i know you didn't ask about this, but imo the flower is too big and placed a little funnily. scale is off- tiny baby, giant flower. kwim? ETA, have you seen how some folks will prop a newborn's head up and then shoot from right in front of her face? maybe you could get your flower in more effectively w/that kind of shot.... |

I was kind of in agreement with you before posting but wanted another opinion. Not sure if you now what the flower is but its a paper poppy for rememberance day which is to remember all those who died in the WW's and also those in current active service. I like the scale of it as these are standard size over here and therefore shows just how tiny she is.
The idea behind it is to start a project 52 of my daughter but to incorporate symbolism into the pictures depend on annual taking place ie advent, xmas, valentines etc to bring about a twist to the album. Here's a colour version for comparison. Thanks for your thoughts well appreciated.

Shaun, i actually hadn't known about the poppies till this year when i heard on the BBC that your prime minister wore one in china and apparently inadvertently insulted some folks...
i love your project, though. some weeks might be tough- february 25 or something? i hope you'll be posting- it'll be neat to see her growing up. |
