Default Something seems off....

I can't put my finger on it but something seems off in this, I'm not sure if it's the skin tone, too much contrast or what. Does anybody else see this or is it just me? Does the vignette work here? I'm kinda on the fence about it.

IMHO it feels like he could disappear into the background - a little flat I guess. I think his skin tone is good, rosey cheeks, nice glow - I'd brighten him though. I love the pic otherwise.

Thank you. I see what you mean about it being flat. Maybe that's it. I didn't have time to consider lighting for this, it was a very spontaneous shot. I was overcome with the realization of how much hes grown up and had to capture it. Sometimes you don't realize how much they're growing til you really step back and look at them. This is what I saw that made me grab the camera:

I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same thing. It was actually a wider shot but i cropped it to get rid of the towel because it was distracting. I had to sacrifice a lil of his feet in order to have his whole head in it.

to me, the only thing that seems off in the first shot is that his hair is cut off a little bit on the left. good photo though!

I don't see anything wrong with the photo, the lighting is fine and the scene tells a story, vignette is good and the photo is sharp, in fact, I like it!

Default First shot

Hi. Gorgeous kid for me the first shot is the better one. The second one leaves me feeling a bit disconnected because his back is to me. A thought might have been to include his reflection in the shot so you still get the same 'story' but we see his face.
In the first shot the lighting is lovely. And yep it's as sharp as a tack well done. My only comment would be to next time not chop out the back of his hair and to my mind there's too much headroom in the shot. When you are shooting someone looking off frame it's nice to have some space in front of them. Great work though

I thought the same thing about the reflection after the fact(of course). The reason for the chopped off hair was to give him space to look into. I suppose the smart thing to have done woulda been turn my camera. Hafta remember that next time.

Thank you everybody for the responses.
