Sourabh, the lighting is harsh but has come out well, as it looks true to conditions (as far as shadows etc. are concerned). The focus is ok, though in the larger image it seems the blue cloth is sharper than the face.I have a few serious issues though.

1. The saturation looks a bit unreal, this is evident fro the skin tone (which is too saturated ) as is the foliage in background. This needs colour balance rectification.

2. The composition does not work for me at all, as its unclear what exactly this portrays: sadness, anger or child tantrums? This is one picture (portrait) where the eyes would be critical to the shot, rather than a side profile. I cant see the "parents' as suggested by your title, so, well....alternate title ?
It looks as if this is a candid from fairly close (at 28 mm?), so a quick change of angle by swinging around may have brought the eyes as the focus and removed distractions in background and foreground (the lungi / cloth? and the awkward portion of greenery) which for some reason make it look too snapshot-like IMHO...

3. This point is a personal view Sourabh, but your framing and watermarks are just too distracting. Unfortunately, when I see the image, "Copyright Sourabh Das" and the bold double-line border pops out more than anything else, i generally feel mounted borders are ok for prints framed for a wall, even there they should be subtle and understated, for soft copies they kinda become superfluous, but you are of course welcome to disagree

This image because of the above reasons, has some shortcomings...it may be useful to bear these things in mind in future for your candids.

i hope she's crying b/c her parents just went out to the movies and not b/c she doesn't have any- which is what first came to mind with your title.

i agree with the pp, but wanted to add- have you considered a vertical crop where you take out all of the yellow stuff behind her head. its pretty bright and distracts my eye.

Significantly better !!! The colours are way better with your edit as is the absence of the frame and copyright marks...

I'd suggest you give the crop a try too.

But yes, you have addressed issue no.s 1 and 3 very well!

i was suggesting that you make it a vertical orientation photo- and crop off all of the bright stuff behind her head - the right 1/4 of the photo. not sure if s sanyal was also suggesting that.

if i knew how to download and crop and then repost i would, but i dont...

This will be great for me to learn.. in case you are finding it difficult to download.. just take a print screen, paste in mspaint and then crop and give me.. I will be thankfull to you.
