Default I wanna play that thing.

Hi,

Can you please critique on this shot of mine?
I really had a good time while taking the shot. The band played amazing music and the kids seemed to love it. They hopped around the band dancing to the tunes and sometimes even between the legs.

This shot was taken when the kids were asking the band members to let them play the instruments, esp the big one (i donno what it is called). The kid at the right corner was jumping in joy looking at his mom.

I would like to know if this shot was composed well. Was it good to convert it into Black and white?

it's a nice photo to remember the fun time you had, but that's all it is.
for someone that wasn't actually there, the photo does nothing.
a couple of thoughts though on how to make it better:
1. straighten the photo - the photo is just not straight. I'm having hard time deciding whether you should straight it or not cause you'll lose a part of the trombone (that's what it's called... i think).
2. shutter speed - you're using way too slow shutter speed for moving objects (kids). you could bump up the ISO to 400 or 800 and get 1/100 or 1/200 respectively which will help freeze the movement better.
3. the background - it's a bit distracting because it's not blurred, but I'm not sure you could have done something about it.
4. BW - hard to tell cause you didn't post the original colored version.
5. it seems a bit underexposed, can be fixed in post processing.

I took some of the things I said and cropped the photo differently, loosing some of the people but overall I think it makes it better. you decide

Thanks a lot Mr. Jones. I really really appreciate your comments. I will make changes to it and will try to improve my work. Will keep that shutter speed in my mind.
I hope to see more comments from you in future too
