Hello. I've just started teaching myself SLR photography. I took this shot with a Canon EOS 350D using ISO 100, f4.5 with a very old 70-210mm sigma lens from my dad's 20 yr old film SLR!

Would really appreciate feedback on this shot. I took a couple of others at the same time which are on my flickr as well if that helps.

i like the way you've got the background nice and uncluttered, and i think the lighting effect with one side of his face in shadow is neat, if the dusky setting/slightly crazy guy mood is what you were going for. if not, then i'd say it's underexposed. i'm bothered by how the background lines are off kilter, so i'd recommend that you might want to straighten those up in pp. i do like it, though, and the set is cool, too.

That is really helpful - thank you. I was going for the dramatic slightly odd look, but if I wanted to change the exposure, would that be something I'd do when taking the photo or in pp? Also, hoe do I change the lines?
Really appreciate the feedback - thanks again.

Nice candid one... Picture is underexposed and maybe cropping a little bit on the right side will help taking off the subject from the center and making it more interesting ... A quick pp will do..
