Default Looking Down

Shot this tonight with a friend of mine for assignment in school. Used a black seamless with one 500W light to the top right of the model and a reflector to the bottom left. The only post processing was adjusting the curves in photoshop to enhance the contrast. Just wanted opinions mostly on lighting and the pose.

Nikon D5000
f/5
1/40 s
ISO 400
exposure, -0.7 stop

Hi I am by no means a pro but IMHO the hair blends into the background in the top right. What angle did you have the light at the right. I would have liked to have seen more neck on her to give her and anchor and not a floating face. I love the headband and the thoughtful look which is very serene. Just my two cents.

Could use some kick (backlight) to really bring out the shape of her head.

The post seems to be in the mediocre middle ground, it's not really dramatic or sad, but it definitely isn't a smile.

I actually don't mind the hair blending into the background.
what I do mind is that harsh lightning. on one side her cheek is overexposed and on the other side her nose produces strong shadows. a reflector on the other side would have solved both issues.
another thing would be taking the photo with shutter speed of 1/40. why? obviously it was shot in a studio so you could play with light levels and aperture to get the shutter speed higher.
other than that it's a good photo with one single light source.

I actually do have a similar shot with a reflector on the left of the model but I don't like it as much as this one. Also it was shot at 1/40 sec because f/5 was the largest aperture I could get at the focal length and I didn't want to bump up the ISO

Also, to Szuzu2969, the light was at about a 50-60 degree angle from north on the right of the model.
