Default How is the Color? Too bright? New to Portrait photography

I took this shot of my son this week in a neighbor's yard. My question is, how is the coloring? Is it too bright? Any critique is helpful. I am new to the people thing, landscape has always been my fun zone.

Looks a little too saturated for me. WB is off as the skin looks yellow and the lips a very lusty pink. Missing the foot too...

If youre working with PS, try playing with vibrance over a couple of layers, rather than simply boosting the saturation or contrast.

Aside from that, not bad at all.

holy saturation
try to go for natural color skin tones. Maybe the white balance was off? Did you use flash? Anyway heres quick my edit. I just toned down the saturation, adjusted the white balance to be a little more cooler and then added a lil contrast.

Niersangwa nailed most of it.
another thing that bothers me a bit is the harsh shadow behind him. it's just to harsh and contrasty from the foreground.

Thank you for the help. He was a little too orange. The edit above looks very good. Also, about the shadow, I should have never taken the shot with him sitting right in the edge of a shade tree. You are right, now that I really look at it, it is very distracting.

While the initial shot may have been a bit over-saturated and could use a little toning down...the provided edit took a shot with a lot of potential and nice warm tones and turned it into a cold, flat, boring picture of a kid sitting on the ground. You have an awesome scene here, with the kids hair and clothing being complemented by the fall foliage in the background. Clearly, the foot shouldn't have been cut off, and the shadow is a minor annoyance. But, keep the colors...maybe toned down a LITTLE, and next time try to get us some eye contact. Kids have such beautiful eyes, it's a shame to hide them.

If you have PS or PSE you could try using the dodge tool to go over that shadow. Not too much or it will look weird, Just enough to lighten it a bit.
