Grainy photo

This was taken yesterday at an Oktoberfest (in which I participated too much ). What makes this so picture so "grainy". I am not sure why the ISO is so high but is this the cause. Thanks for the help!

Yes, it's the high ISO that made the image appear grainy. You might want to turn off the auto-ISO function on your camera and make the decisions yourself. That high ISO might also explain why the camera picked such a short exposure time (1/640) and small aperture (f/14).

Lower that crazy high ISO 1600, and you should see less grain :-)

The noise really isn't that bad. If you are concerned about it, run it through a NR program and forget about it. It shouldn't soften it up too bad.
