Default First Newborn Shoot

So this little guy decided he wanted to stay awake for the whole shoot. I was wondering what others think of this shot. This was my favorite of the whole day. Does anyone have tips for posing newborns who stay awake? Also, I was looking for suggestions to make this shot better. Is the cropping ok? Thanks!

It's a cute shot of a cute little guy. I think you are a little underexposed, and you want to pull some of the red out of the image. I feel your crop and composition are OK..you just need to fix the exposure issues

I love the pose. The way he is looking right at the camera and holding on to Mama is great. I agree a bit red though. Awesome job! TFS

This seems a tiny bit out of focus.

Thank you all so much! I definitely agree about the redness. That had been bothering me too.

The pose is perfect. I think it just needs a little post work. The coloring and exposure can be fixed. Also, I would try and soften it a bit. It looks a little harsh for a newborn shot. Just my opinion.

The composition of the shot is lovely, but I'm just not sure where the focus has fallen... The focus needs to be on the eyes, but it seems to be more on the thumb of the mothers hand closest to the camera?

I have my 3rd newborn shoot coming up on Monday & I'm hoping this one will stay asleep! The other 2 have been wide awake during the shoot LOL!!!!
