Default What the heck?

alexporch
I took this with an Olympus e-600. f7.1, iso 200, shutter speed of 1/125 on a tripod. What should i have done to make it usable? Whatever is happening, it is pretty consistent with my photos. Thanks for the help.

What do you see as the problem? Biggest thing I see is WB.

I think that it’s a very nice shot.

Perhaps a bit of cropping and PS processing for depth, vibrance and saturation? It has little depth.

the facial focus isn't that sharp, the skin colors don't look right...how would i fix the WB now, since it wasn't shot in raw?

How would I go about "processing.." this like that... was hoping for some direction from the experienced here.
Please feel free to edit this, and tell me how you did it...

Here's my version.

I just set the white balance eyedropper to his shoes, increased contrast, clarity and saturation a bit, and applied some sharpening.

I can't see any softness in the face are with this size of file.

I used Lightroom to do this.

as sk66 says the problem is the WB. go to levels, click on the middle eyedropper and click on the cement stairs between the shoes. duplicate image and apply highpass filter set radius set to 2. change the blending mode to overlay. this will address the slight softness and add a bit of contrast.

OK,OGR here’s my rendition:

Boy_Stairs

Lightroom: Cropped, adjusted white balance, and moved down the adjustment work flow including vibrance and saturation.

Photoshop: Layers, adjusted face coloring, cloned errant pixels around eyes, sharpened eyes via Lab mode.

With your original you can be much more accurate on the face and eyes.
