Here is another attempt at a portrait shot of my daughter. This time it was a bit earlier in the day so no bluish gray cast. (lighting really does impact a photo doesn't it) I really just have all the same portrait questions. I like the composition. Your thoughts? I like the lighting. Again you? Not sure but I think the focus fell on her hand? Still have to work on that. She has a touch of chocolate on her mouth. Tried to get it out post processing with healing brush. Couldn't perfect it. Any other tools I should have tried? I personally like her tousled hair because well...that's just her. I suppose I need to watch that if ever shooting others. Any other comments, critique, what have you just lay it on me. I'm here to learn Thanx for looking!

Very natural. I like the catchlights. I think you're right about the focus, but it's not distracting, IMO. I like the fact that you can still make out ambient light & shadows -- they're not overpowered by the flash.

Thanx Dave! Appreciate the feedback. Maybe didn't need flash but thought I had read about using flash when out in sunlight. Helps with lighting? Thanx for looking!

Thanx Dan! Appreciate the advice. Actually cropped this down a bit. Will try it with more space and repost. (As soon as the kids let me use the computer). Thanx for looking!

i like it a lot. esp how there are still bits of sunlight on her, but not interfering with the nice smooth lighting on her face. i think you were right to use the flash- your camera would have been looking at the bright sky and the white shirt and would underexpose her face, which is of course the most important part.

Wow, Lovely shot. Personally I think the chocolate makes the shot that much more real.
Look forward to seeing more of your work
