I think a flash might have helped in this picture... its really dark and a flash will help set the image so its not blurry. Other than that maybe bumping the iso up.

OK, here’s how I would save this photo:

Grandfather

Adjusted exposure in Lightroom. Fill light is a nice option. Pulled into Photoshop. Layers. Blurred background and cloned over light switch. Adjusted whites of eyes, softened features isolated and sharpened eyes.

Obviously, using your original and being more meticulous would produce higher quality results.

a flash would have helped but so would just turning on the lights
I'm guessing the ISO is 800 and not 80 so I wouldn't bump it up more.
the simplest thing you could have done to solve the issue is just take the photo from the other side (from his right side), that way the light from the window(?) would have fallen on his face and not just the back of his head.

ISO is 80, but I didn't used tripod for it and exposure was to long, so it turned out to be blurry
I'm still playing around with my new camera, learning how to set right exposure, when to use flash and stuff like that, so ur comments are very usefull
tnx ppl, especially you Photologyst, I see what you wanted to do with this pic, but MrJones is right, simply needed another angle
