Default Mother and Son

New to posting, have been taking some portraits of friends, friends kids, family for a little while and always looking to get better. Took this photo on my back deck before my younger brother moved interstate. I'm fairly pleased with it. No flash, adjustments in level/curves, and sharpening using Canon Digital Photo Professional software.

Feedback appreciated.

Mother and Son.

very nice photo, but it feels a little flat.
try bumping up the contrast and see what happens.

Agreed with Mr. Jones, it does look flat and needs contrast. Try doing a curves layer and give it a slight S curve.

Also, the mom is nice and tack sharp, but the son is a bit soft. When photographing two people that aren't on the same plane, you need to stop down a bit. I'd have gone with f/4 for this probably.

Exposure and skin tones look good!
