FDB,

Like Share Your Shots, Critique has its own set of guidelines to get the best comments in a short time. Asking a specific question and placing EXIF in message box help with that. Here's all the rest:

I don't think the angled shot works for this. I found myself working out what looked wrong (the bottle not falling over and the whisky level in the glass) rather than taking in the emotion of the subject.

I think its a well shot image, but the angle doesn't do anything for me. I find myself tilting my head to see whats really going on.

its well shot and the contrast is nice, however i think the dress is a bit blown out. some of it just seems to meld together towards the left side.

i also agree with nathan, the pose shes in is a little awkward for me. i spent the first few minutes just trying to figure it out. i asked "is the whole white area her dress", "how is the bottle there", and "if the bottle isnt falling, how the heck did he shoot this?!?". but i did enjoy asking myself the last question.

i might have given more light to the right side as her face is hard to read in the shadows, leaving the dress to become the subject. hope this helps! nice shooting.

Hi all.
Thanx for the critique.

Sorry jiminyClickit (I keep getting into trouble) :-)
I basically did not want to guide viewers towards the critique i wanted coz i wanted them to look at the pic, and let me know what it was that jumped into thier heads. But i will be a bit more specific next time.

What i learned from this one:
Angles are not always your friend. Looks like where liquid is involved, you have to think carefully. Also, your angle should also still support natural balance.

If i may, i want to through this one into this pot because of it's angle, and it's from the same series.
What i'm after:
As with the previous comments on angle, how does this shot make you feel?

That is a much stronger composition in my mind. I think it might have been interesting to have the bottle cap laying in the shot somewhere as well. The cap says something, particularly if it is left off the bottle - implying that one is not finished yet... (of course it could make the image too busy)

The only thing with this view is that it does less to convey it is a bridal shot - perhaps if the ring was visible and more prominent?

Still a very nice shot though

something doesnt sit right. it seems the bottle is pointig at her face. shes leaning forward (or sitting straight) and the bottle is too, like a triangle. i dont think you can have a view of looking directly down a the bottle, but maybe it should be empty on the ground.

that being said, i do like her pose and the dress is spread nicely.
