Your camera exposed for the water--not the boys--so they are a little dark. It is a good composition --interesting and fun. Just over expose the water a little and it will lighten up the boys.

The composition here bothers me. I feel as though they are running out of the frame on the upward side.

For me, there is just too much dead space in the frame. You could fill the frame with your subject, and and still convey the same message. I like the off set you used, thirds wise.

However, its a great idea for a shot, keep going at it!

trying to get the pefect shot and exposure with children is difficult especially when the are spontaneous .i have two you sons and often i only have time to pick up the camera and click ,you look back on the computer and realise it should have been this or that or your settings should have been different etc. try shooting raw which will allow you to do some post work with you shots .Also i shoot at the beach a lot and often the sun is wrong so try some fill in flash to light the boys up a little.....nice shot all the same
