Default mmmmmmm

I posted in a different part of DPS earlier today about bouncing my pop up flash/diffusers and received advice to make my own. So I tried it. I used tinfoil for the bounce. I'm going for cute action shots of my kiddos. I know the chair rail is a bit annoying but there isn't really anything i can do about that. What could I have done better (within the range of equipment I own )? Is it sharp enough? Is the focus on the eyes? Anyway I should edit it?
keep in mind I'm fairly new.

Is that better? I adjusted it a bit in picnik. Was it just terrible to begin with? I'm would like to learn, so if it's awful please let me know. (keep in mind it is my baby. ) Should I have had different settings with the bounce? I have never attempted to bounce a flash and usually avoid it like the plague because all I have is the pop up.

I dig it, but some might not because the spaghetti is in her face. Those folks are probably traditional portraitists who want everything planned and posed with the eyes looking right at the camera - they underestimate how beautiful and interesting and intimate candid shots can be.

Maybe you could try to capture a more emotional expression and you could make minor adjustments to exposure, fill light, crop etc but this is a pretty solid candid shot in my book. Nice!

BTW, here's how I'd process this one. Note the slightly closer crop, background bokeh, exposure and vibrance increase.

Thanks for responding. I liked the pasta. Maybe it is just the mom in me, but I love the candid shots. You are absolutely right about her expression. I don't get it. Out of all my kids, this child is normally the funniest most expressive., until I break out my camera. Then I can't even get her to look at me. About 90% of her photos only have eye lids. It's very frustrating. Not to mention, I always completely ruin the really cute shots. To the point where no amount of photo shop could ever fix them.

Its a nice shot, but the composition may work better if the crop is much much tighter. Obviously the bumped exposure helped, though the 'bokeh via PP', i'm not a fan of...

the interesting thing about this image is the eyes being in focus, but the DoF being shallow enough to throw out the closest element - the fork. makes for an eye catching image, so intentional or not, good job...

as i said though, i'd prefer a much closer composition. much closer.

I'm personally not a fan of the idea of a much, much, much, much, tighter crop but I would be super, super, super, super, interested in learning all about how you'd add "bokeh" to the background after the shot without using some sort of post production process.

Someone need a nap?

Out of respect for the OP, I'll refrain from doing much more than pointing out that this is a forum for offering critiques and thoughts for the presented image, not ensuing critiques, especially when accompanied by a sassy and uncalled for attitude.
